Indoctrination
Midshipman life begins early in July. Future Midshipmen report aboard as Candidates to undergo a rigorous two-week indoctrination program. "Indoc," as it is commonly called, subjects Candidates to an intensive regimen of physical, moral, and regimental training. The daily schedule is both demanding and precise, with little idle time. Teamwork and time-management are valuable skills to bring to indoc. Even though most plebe candidates never meet before the first day of Indoc, those roommates, decks, companies, and classes that learn to function together make it the furthest.
Successful completion of Indoctrination requires mental, physical
and emotional commitment as Candidates adapt while anticipating the
feeling of accomplishment upon its conclusion. Although challenging,
it is also uplifting.
